Rubber Feet: FAQ's

General FAQ's

  • What are rubber feet?

Rubber feet are adhesive pads or dots which can be applied to an item to reduce noise, shock, vibration and impact caused by the contact of two objects or surfaces. Commonly used as as feet for crafts, coasters, chopping boards, electronics, glass table tops and as cabinet door buffers.

  • Which surfaces will rubber feet adhere to?

Self Adhesive rubber feet can be used on a variety of smooth surfaces, including but not limited to; glass, marble, metal, granite, glazed ceramics, laminate, plastic and wood.

  • Are rubber feet easy to use?

Rubber feet are extremely easy to install, simply requiring the user to peel the pad from the adhesive backed sheet whilst avoiding touching the sticky section. Then position and firmly press the rubber feet to create a strong bond.

We recommend that you always ensure the surface they will be applied to, is clean, dust and oil free and also completely dry. Smooth surfaces are advised for rubber feet.

  • What are rubber feet used on?

Rubber feet offer a number on benefits and can be used on so many items or surfaces in both the home and workplace. Some uses include:

    • Preventing items from slipping or sliding on surfaces.
    • Provide stability and security for items.
    • Reducing unwanted noise, slamming and scratching.
    • Allowing for airflow which in turn aids heat dissipation and prevents overheating.
    • Keep picture or photo frames straight and walls damage free.
  • How long do rubber feet stay in place?

Rubber feet can last for many years in normal conditions. However, exposure to the elements can cause them to deteriorate. Also wear and tear will eventually have an impact on their longevity

People often use our feet on chopping boards which are then washed in soapy hot water or the dishwasher. Although we find they tend to still remain in place for a long period of time, it is in applications such as this that you may find their life expectancy is affected.

  • Can rubber feet be reused?

We do not  recommend removing or attempting to reuse rubber feet. If you try to remove them you could cause damage to the surface they are affixed to. For example if you remove them from a surface that has been painted, then this will likely  leave some artificial damage to the surface. If removing rubber feet from glass or tile then damage should not occur.

  • Can rubber feet be repositioned?

Rubber feet use a very strong adhesive, this makes them impossible to reposition. Depending on where they are applied, it is potentially not easy to remove them without some damage to the surface they are attached to. If you remove them from a painted surface or a veneer then they are also likely to leave some artificial damage to the surface. If the material is glass or tile then damage should not occur.

  • Can you use rubber feet on chair or table legs?

No, rubber feet are not designed to be used on either chair or table legs. Rubber feet are used to prevent sliding, not to create a smooth slide (felt pads would acheive this). As chairs or tables are constantly moved the resistance would mean the feet would become loose.
